Maps Need Reading



Maps Need Reading comprises of Chris Burgess, Nathan Patterson, David Webb, and Jordan Sexton. Their music is an aim at mixing elements of Indie, Post Rock, Jazz, Math, and Progressive Rock into something unique, thoughtful, and reflective of each member's background. They play this music not in an attempt to gain material goods or inflated egos, but to communicate the feelings and questions that run through all our heads and rarely are expressed in normal conversation. Pure primal energy with a Celtic twist. The bands eclectic sound blends the tribal vibe of primitive drums with conventional and non conventional instruments such as guitar, bass, modern and Native American flutes as well as a myriad of vocal styles to create a truly unique sound. Born of a family drum circle, the group delivers an authentic tribal and clannish feel that not only draws the audience into the music but into the moment and family as well. Their rhythmic groove naturally inspires audience participation, which has become a staple of their performances.

Rose Hawley is a singer/songwriter from Knoxville, TN. She has been performing professionally as a solo artist and with bands for over 25 years in Knoxville and the region. Her original music is diverse: Blues, Rock, Folk, Bluegrass, Alternative - her styles are a reflection of the lyrics carefully crafted to paint an emotional and personal journey she shares with her audience. She will be performing with the extraordinary Terry Phillips of Knoxville, guitar wizard and another singer/songwriter with 30+ years entertaining and mesmerizing audiences with his proficiency and style. Rose and Terry have joined forces as tricksters and troubadours that will entertain you and keep you wanting more...
